Hello Rhubarb, Dallas, and Southside!!! I have grown up listening to you Rhubarb and I just love you. I am 26 yrs old now and 106.7 was and still is the only radio station that my mom would listen to and now it is the only station I will listen to. About 16 yrs ago, I guess, I met you, Rhubarb, at what used to be Big Star in Roswell. Me, my sister, and my brother were sitting in a blazer and you came out and came over to us and gave us some Y106.7 stuff and was just the nicest person. Ever since that day, it made me just love you more. You are an outstanding human being and yalls program in the mornings is great. I laugh at yall and basically you make my day. I just wanted to let you know that. Dallas, you are beautiful and I love the fact that you speak your mind. I'm the same way, I'm a woman who speaks her mind too. Some people get mad but I can't help it. Now, Southside...You are hilarious!!!!! Your driving with Southside is always RIGHT ON THE MONEY! Keep up the great work on the show. Love yall!!!!!! YEAH COME ON! Diane Thomasson

Dear Rhubarb,

I have felt to need to email you about my 11 year old son, my hero. He the
oldest of 11 adopted children. I guess that is why this came as such a hard
thing for our family.? In October he was playing with some kids and hit his
neck, it began to swell and so as a worry wart mom I took him to the Dr. they
sent us straight to the hospital, where he had to undergo an emergency CT scan.
two days later and emergency biopsy. then I heard the most awful words , your
son has Hodgkin's Lymphoma.??he also had a tumor mass the size of a golf ball
in this spleen. ?I can not tell you the horror of those words. My heart broke?
but ?the brave face I had to keep for my son.

the next week we were scheduled for appts. at the AFLAC Cancer clinic at
Scottish Rite and then numerous test. the entire time being told that this was
a miracle. they had found it early.? But I didn't feel lucky, I felt so
depressed and hurt. broken to the say the least.

Robert began Chemo on December 18 2006. what a horrid Christmas it was for him,
he was so sick and didn't enjoy it at all.?? 2 weeks later his hair fell out
and the reality of Cancer hit my family. We had to have 12 chemo sessions, and
I sat back and watched as my son, underwent pain, illness, I wiped his face
when he was sick and held his hand when he was crying, watched as this ADHD
child slept all of the time, cried when he was asleep and not playing,?the
entire time telling myself the Dr's considered him a miracle.

You see according the the Dr's we discovered Robert's Hodgkin's nearly a year
before we would ahve even noticed the first symptom. just and childhood
accident brought about a miracle one that to this day I am still stand in awe
of.

Now 8 months later, he is getting ready to have his port removed and the Dr is
99.9% sure his cancer is in remission. we wont know for sure until the PET scan
that we cant have until August but we are now proclaiming cancer free. Funny
how when they told me he had cancer I reacted immediately but when the Dr said
cancer free, It took nearly two days to sink in.

I don't know why I felt the need to email you but there may be someone out
there beginning this awful journey and I know that pain and heart break. But I
also know I serve a might God and I have witnessed his miracles, My son is
cancer free and for the first time in 8 months he is feeling good and playing
once more, He still tires out quickly and he really isn't back to normal but
the Dr's say it will take another 6 months before he feels normal again. But
God has been good and his hair is coming back and he is wanting to do so
much.

It has not been an easy road for us to go, there have been days when I felt
like a failure as a mother because I had to be with Robert so much and the
other 10 kids had to be with out me. There were days when I cried more than
laughed. BUT God saw me through it and I listened to your radio station and
smiled.

There is a song on the radio these days by Mark Schultz called He's my son.
When I heard it all I could do was cry , it was the story of our life these
past 8 months. I wish I could tell Mr.. Schultz what an impact he has had on
our life.

But most of all I want to say Thank you to you. For? going on the March across
Georgia, please tell of of Georgia thank you for giving and helping those of us
that don't have alot?of money get through the hard times.

Robert wanted me to include these two pictures they are his favorites. When his
hair first fell out and then one night when he was saying prayers, he fell
asleep. God blessed us greatly and I have finally come to see that the Dr's
were right Robert is a miracle and we were lucky.

We pray the Lord's blessings on you for your giving heart.
Rise and Robert

Rhubarb,

Some years ago you came to visit the kids at Scottish Rite Hospital. You came into my son Storms room just to say Hi. He was 8 yrs old at the time, I think. He had just went through his 3rd major foot surgery. Storm was born with a 90 degree club foot. Your words of encouragement meant so much to me. Storm doesn't remember the visit. Most likely due to the medications.  Though the Doctors said he may never play sports,  be thankful he should be able to Walk. Well being a Father and avid sports fan, I've prayed many days that he just be able to do whatever he wanted. I was prepared to accept whatever the Lord had in store for Storm. Now, he is entering the ninth grade at Flowery Branch High School. He just completed playing this spring for the High Schools 9th grade Baseball team. (Pitcher and 1st Base)  Over 150 boys tried out for 44 roster spots for  freshman,  JV, and Varisty Baseball.   He is now perparing to play ninth grade Football for the School. ( Running Back/ Linebacker )  Through your words of, NEVER GIVE UP, I have driven Storm to pursue his dreams and not let his Leg/Foot hold him back. As a Father who felt lost and defeated at his sons birth, Your words and wisdom showed me that this deformity was a true blessing. As I watch him grow daily, I remember you saying. Overcome, this little setback and everything else will be icing on the cake. I just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I recently had the chance to hear you on the Radio and knew this THANK YOU was way PAST DUE.

Dear Rhubarb,
Just a note  to let you know that Mrs. Claus and I had a great time with you and all your radio family. I really wanted to tell you that even though that was our most hectic time of the year, We wanted to come and spend a little time with a Man that gives so much of his time and His self to work for Children through out the year.
I think it is safe to say that most People in the World today can't find the time or are willing to put forth the effort to help those who can't help theirself.
Rhubarb, you have a very busy life, with Family, Work & School, but you always find the time for other people, even an entire month to raise money to help sick Children.
Again We just wanted  to thank you for letting us be a part of this special time and to tell you, that in the Claus house as well as EAGLE 106.7 it will always be MERRY CHRISTMAS

We Love you
May GOD Bless You and Yours

SANTA and The MRS.

Hey Rhubarb

I wanted to say thank you for promoting the Conyers toy run this past weekend and share a little story with you.

As I was walking out the door of Stone Mountain H-D on Friday night, they came yelling at me that there was someone out front that wanted to donate a truck load of bicycles to the toy run.  Jimmy and I head out front to load the bikes from the customers truck to ours to take to Conyers the next morning and I ask them if they are going to be riding with us on Saturday.  They said no?.we don?t own a bike.  I asked how they had heard about us?.they said they were a vendor and some early events held at the dealership.  I asked how they heard about the event?.they said we heard Rhubarb talking about it.   It was a husband and wife, who went on to say that they had had a good year and had 3 healthy adult children of their own as well as grandchildren, and they just wanted to share.    It was the best!!!

The Conyers Riding Association was certainly surprised when we showed up them in the back of the truck?.it was about 12 bikes of all shapes and sizes for both boys and girls.  Your listeners are great, thanks again for all your support.

Rhubarb;
I was at a friend's house today and saw the picture of him with you and Ken Cook and others from the Labor Day MDA telethon and as I stood there looking at that picture (my friend is Michael Johnson, son of Cheryl and Ernie Johnson), it made a light go off for me. I thought about how busy you are with two babies at home, a wife, a busy busy job and yet not only do you find the time for the March for leukemia, you volunteer for the Labor Day MDA telethon which is long hours and hard work. And there are so many other things you are involved in that I am sure never get mentioned.  You knew my cousin, Vickie Clark who passed away in July, and she spoke so highly of you and what a big heart you had.
I have been searching for something to do, some way to give back, and I have done some work with different organizations but it seems every time I go all they want is a glorified office clerk to do filing, stuff envelopes or call and ask for money and I felt there was more I could do than that. So instead of making excuses, I looked at you, at Ken Cook, at my buddy Michael who I have watched go from walking to being completely wheel chair bound and decided to get off my duff and make a difference. If you can find time to do these good things then surly someone like me can too. I have 3 days a week I don't work and I know there is an organization out there somewhere who can utilize me. I am beginning the search today. You touch my heart in so many ways and I kept thinking about how you have two beautiful babies, healthy and strong and yet you want to make a difference, you aren't sitting back waiting till something happens, you want to Nip it in the bud now. Thank you for all you do, thank you for the joy you bring to others without even knowing it and thank you for opening my eyes. If we want to give back and help we can find a way, it isn't all about money it is about the giving of one's self. I am so proud to say you are my friend, even though I have met you once years ago, you are friend to so many who listen to you every day. God bless you dear hard working man.

Some of you know that one of my resolutions for 2005 was to work on a master of arts degree.
This letter might just inspire you too.

Hi Rhubarb,

I listen to you and Dallas everymorning. I just had to write and tell that I too have gone back to school at the age of 52. Sometimes I feel like I am the grandmother, the students are so young. I am enjoying it. I am going for my associates degree in Accounting. It is so good to hear about someone else going back to school. Good luck in all your endeavors and just keep me laughing on the way to school everymorning.

Thank you for giving me the motivation to go back.

Love all of ya!
Pat Griffith

Rhubarb (and Dallas),

Okay, let me begin by saying I never really was a country music fan.  Sorry, but it's true.  I'm from Alabama (20 miles south of Birmingham) and, even though I grew up on country music, I guess it just took me a while to truly appreciate it.  Maybe I just had to learn some "life lessons" before I could understand how profound it really is!  Anyway, my family got transferred to Marietta a few years back, and I started looking for a radio station.  Oh, I tried all of them, but I kept coming back to you.  I'm one of those people who turn the station whenever the DJ starts talking, but I wouldn't care if you guys never played another song!  I mean it.  I can't wait to hear what you and Dallas are going to say next.  You're honest (even when it's not politically correct), but you're also kind and genuine.  Just down-home folks that you feel like you've known all your life.  When you talk about growing up in Tallapoosa and of your Mother and Grandmother, it takes me back home to Alabaster, Alabama, and that puts a smile on my face all the way to work!  You know, there are people in our lives who take away and people who add something.  Well, you guys add something special to my life every day.  You remind me of what's important in life and how to treat people like I want to be treated.  Simple values.  What country music is all about, right?  Thanks for the reminder!  Love you guys!!

Hi Ruby,

I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy listening to you every morning.  I guess the one thing that I like about you more than anything else is that you come across as a real person, no pretending. I think that your loving attitude towards the Atlanta community is absolutely incredible.  Thanks for all that you and it is great to hear about your family.  Keep up the good work.

Not too often, people forget to praise those that make a difference in their
lives. It's too easy to point out the negative things. So, today I have
taken a little time to reflect and tell a few of those that have made a
difference in my life.

I listen to your morning show every morning.  When I first moved to Georgia
about 5 years ago, I found the Eagle and that is the only station that I
listen to.  My boyfriend borrowed my truck and not being a country music
fan, he changed my radio station.  When he parked it he tried to put it back
on the station I had it on and missed.  I got in to drive and kept thinking
that something was wrong.  Lo and behold my station was on the "other"
country station.

So on today, my birthday, I wanted to thank you two for bring so many smiles
to my face and tell you what a great job you guys do.  God bless you for all
you do and for being a part of so many people's lives while you do it. Thank
you for the kind words you gave me that helped me through the first
Christmas without my father.

Thank you again

Rhubarb,

Just wanted to say congratulations and thanks for a great evening of entertainment and fun. Charlie is a National Treasure. God has blessed the L&L Society with you and all the great folks that participate in and plan this awesome event. The audience was filled with wonderful people eager make a contribution and they're all there because of you. Know plans are already underway for next year because you set the bar so high. Hopefully one day we'll just be out playing golf because these blood diseases have been cured. Short of that, we'll be there each year with you trying to make a difference.
